Survival of the Fittest 5K Racewalk: noon
This race is named after an editorial in the March 14, 2002 New England Journal of Medicine which officially verified what many of us exercise enthusiasts have suspected for a long time: that our exercise capacity has more to do with our longevity and quality of life than our weight, lipid level, blood pressure, or any other single disease parameter. If you can walk this hilly course in less than 45 minutes, you’re in pretty darn good shape. If you can’t, start on a walking program and test yourself again next year. This event is for all ages, but it is a race-- against yourself. You should be in good health and accustomed to walking.
Prizes: medals for the three fastest after adjustments (preregistrants only) for age and sex according to World Masters Association calculators.
