Wild as a March Hare 5K Run: 10 a.m.

March HareMarch Hare takes for its inspiration the Living History Farms cross country race in Iowa every fall, which after a quarter century attracts of 3000 contestants every year. This is what cross country was when it began, and what we think it was meant to be. Not a smooth, flat, grassy course following chalk lines through a field, but a rolling trail carved through tallgrass prairie and native woodlands-- two creek crossings, hills steep enough to slow an average runner to a walking pace, up or down. Perhaps the toughest course in Kansas. Prizes: $50 for the overall male and female winners, and medals for the three fastest after adjustments (preregistrants only) for age and sex according to World Masters Association calculators.  So-- a 63 year old woman may take home the gold. But she’d better be good for 63!  Note: Closed to high school athletes competing in track and field.
