Last Gasp 8K Mountain Bike Race: 1 p.m.

Mountain bikers exchange the dread of being hit by a car for the thrill of tumbling down a hill. This race, which is intended as a break-in for novice riders, eliminates the worst of the ravines but still gives you a heckuva workout. About 8 kilometers in 3 laps, including prairie, woods, two creek crossings, and one big vertical ascent on each lap.

Prizes: Medals for the first three finishers after adjustments (preregistrants only) for age and sex according to World Masters Association calculators.
